Strength – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week
Strength – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week
30 April – 6 May 2018
Inner strength is built over time, the real inner strength I’m talking about. There’s a difference when people are talking about a topic you feel strongly about and you feel strong in regard to that particular topic and there’s a difference when it comes to overcoming life’s tests and challenges that arise and you need to find your way to overcome them and need to get through each and every day and everything it entails until you feel you have sufficiently pulled through whatever difficulties that have surfaced in your life.
A strength of character is the gift you receive when you survive those testing times. If you think of any challenging time in your life you will discover you have strengthened in certain characteristics as a result and that those character qualities, also known as virtues, have benefitted you since.
A strength of character can be observed when watching people respond rather than react. For example, it takes a strong character to walk away from situations, or people, which do not serve them in a positive way.
Being strong and having a strength of character isn’t the same thing. There are people who appear strong because of how they look, how their actions are perceived or even the position they hold – which could be a position of power.
A person who has a strength of character empowers others and treats everyone equally with kindness and respect. A person who has a strength of character decides to walk away rather than fight. A person who has a strength of character uses their wisdom to walk away from negative things and negative people in their life without the desire to say or do hurtful things. They know who they are and who they want to be and act accordingly.
A person who has a strength of character grows more and more comfortable in their own skin throughout their lives as a result of the decisions they make and actions they take – or don’t take.
Global Characteristic of The Week
Want to be a better person? Personal growth is a constant – allow the Virtue of the Week to serve as a gentle reminder of who you are and who you want to be. Help create the world you want to live in – as you practice a virtue each week you also serve as a positive example to others and inspire others to do the same. Be the change you want to see in the world.
Actions to take to practice Strength:
● Every morning:
1. Read the card
2. If you feel the need take a few minutes to reflect on what it means to you right now
3. Trust that at the right time during the day this virtue will come to mind and you will know when to act on it
● Every evening:
1. Take a few minutes to reflect on how you applied this virtue in your life today
2. If you didn’t practice it, learn from your experiences by considering what you would do differently next time. If you did practice it then acknowledge yourself for doing so as it increases your self awareness and self confidence.
3. Acknowledge yourself when you do apply this virtue in your life. You will become more self aware and more confident within yourself.
