Service – Always Feels Good
Born to serve
I’m not sure about you, but it took me a while to realise that we are all born to help one another. We all have a purpose, and even though we might not recognise our use for years to come, our everyday actions result in serving each other. Maybe that is our purpose.
Reality and truth
Each service has a purpose. Some people are relationship-driven, and some are task-driven. Regardless the result is that whatever we do benefits people – therefore we serve each other.
We all contribute to society in whatever way we can. I have a friend who loves animals, and she also loves older people. Her idea of ‘giving back to the community is taking animals to aged care facilities to bring some joy to the residents.
Paid Service
While it is noble to provide a free service to the community, not everyone is in the financial position to do so. Paid employment also serves the community in a variety of ways. I can’t think of a job that doesn’t impact on serving the community in the long term, can you?
Serving children
Whatever service we provide, future generations must benefit from the role modelling that is done by all of us. The primary role models for children are their parents, childcare educators and teachers. These role models have the most vital role to play in serving children as they grow and develop to become leaders of the 21st century.
The balance of service
People throughout the world struggle with a work-life balance. While it is important to serve others, you also must be aware of serving yourself too. Listen to your intuition and if you need to take time out, then do so. Listen to your instincts and rest, relax and rejuvenate to restore your energy. Regardless of whether you are serving others or yourself always – be kind, be kind, be kind.
