Serenity – starts with you
Serenity – starts with you
3-9 September 2018
Serenity – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week
Serenity doesn’t just appear when you need it most – it’s something that takes some time to develop by doing internal work on yourself so that you learn how to go with the flow and trust in the universe during everyday situations as well as challenging times.
Accepting people and situations for what they are and focussing on what you are doing and achieving it step by step brings a sense of peacefulness to your day regardless of what’s going on around you.
When you use your self-discipline and choose to respond rather than reaction you gradually achieve that feeling of serenity and trust that you have the ability to overcome whatever life throws your way, including any tests and difficulties.
You know that they also happen for a reason and that you will become more resilient and a better person because of the experiences that you go through. Learning to let go of things that you cannot control and trusting that everything will pass in time is a valuable gift that you give yourself.
As you work on yourself each and every day you will discover the strength within the feel of serenity and your ability to cope and respond to situations in life with grace and calmness when you need it most, just by living mindfully and continually striving to respond rather than react to life’s challenges. Then you receive the gift of serenity that you so richly deserve.
Self-development means constant transformation and growth throughout your life – allow the ‘Virtue of the Week’ to serve as a gentle reminder of who you are and who you want to be. Help create the world you want to live in as you practice a virtue each week you also serve as a positive example to others and inspire others to do the same. Be the change you want to see in the world.
Actions to take to practice Charity:
● Every morning:
1. Read the card
2. If you feel the need take a few minutes to reflect on what it means to you right now
3. Trust that at the right time during the day this virtue will come to mind and you will know when to act on it
● Every evening:
1. Take a few minutes to reflect on how you applied this virtue in your life today
2. If you didn’t practice it, learn from your experiences by considering what you would do differently next time. If you did practice it then acknowledge yourself for doing so as it increases your self-awareness and self-confidence.
3. Acknowledge yourself when you do apply this virtue in your life. You will become more self-aware and more confident within yourself.
