Prayerfulness – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week
Prayerfulness – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week
4-10 June 2018
The word alone either attracts or repels people as a consequence of their beliefs and experiences. When we take things for what they are, rather than what we think they are, we often find we are more accepting and open-minded.
Some people would call themselves religious while others reject that concept and will state they are spiritual or have no beliefs in that regard whatsoever. What matters is how we treat each other and that we accept and respect each other regardless of whether our beliefs are the same, similiar or different.
Another important factor is that we are comfortable in our own skin regardless of whether others respect or accept our choices, including our beliefs, in life.
Whether or not you are religious, spiritual or otherwise it is important to have time alone for reflection and meditation and to feel connected to a higher power if you believe one exists – I once read that GOD also stands for Great Out Doors or Good Orderly Directions – like everything in life take on board what resonates for you at this stage of your life.
Connecting with nature is usually a feel good experience for so many of us and when we take the time to enjoy the gifts that nature so generously shares with us we often end up feeling calm, at peace and have clearer insight into whatever may be on our mind. Be kind, be respecful, be accepting – be inclusive, not exclusive.
Want to be a better person? Personal growth is a constant transformation – allow the Virtue of the Week to serve as a gentle reminder of who you are and who you want to be. Help create the world you want to live in – as you practice a virtue each week you also serve as a positive example to others and inspire others to do the same. Be the change you want to see in the world.
Actions to take to practice Prayerfulness:
● Every morning:
1. Read the card
2. If you feel the need take a few minutes to reflect on what it means to you right now
3. Trust that at the right time during the day this virtue will come to mind and you will know when to act on it
● Every evening:
1. Take a few minutes to reflect on how you applied this virtue in your life today
2. If you didn’t practice it, learn from your experiences by considering what you would do differently next time. If you did practice it then acknowledge yourself for doing so as it increases your self awareness and self confidence.
3. Acknowledge yourself when you do apply this virtue in your life. You will become more self aware and more confident within yourself.
