Mercy is wanting to help when you get and sometimes rules get in the way. Rules are rules. Society needs rules to live by. Have you ever driven a car in a country where there doesn’t appear to be any road rules? Not easy. Every man for himself. In a powerful machine at that. To protect ourselves and each other, rules are required.
Mercy is a sense that you want to help someone regardless of the rules. A rule is made to be broken so they say. It’s important to help each other when it’s at all possible. After all, why wouldn’t you?
Humanity is complex. The way we treat each other is horrendous at times. The way other people treat each other is ridiculous – and so unnecessary.
What mercy means
What does mercy mean? Mercy is wanting to help someone when you see them suffering. Being forgiving and compassion is a sign of mercy.
Does that mean you have to forgive everyone? No. Because if someone is treating you badly, abusing you verbally, physically, emotionally then walk away. You do not deserve that. If you tell yourself you do deserve it, then seek professional help. Immediately.
Do no harm. To yourself or others. If you do no harm to anyone you do not require forgiveness by anyone. Treat people well and help them when you can, because you can. One day the tables might be turned.
Show no mercy
The only thing we should show no mercy in is making the world a better place. Be kind, be helpful, be of service when you can.
I’m sick of waking up and hearing about merciless acts of compassion shown when needed. Mothers losing babies, high school kids picking fights, politicians bullying each other.
I envision children being taught to be kind to each other and themselves, being supportive and encouraging of each other. Promoting, inspiring and motivating each other to be the best version of themselves and vice versa. It’s an idealistic vision I know but every wonderful creation starts with a vision. Join the tribe if you haven’t already! Please invite other like-minded friends too.

PARENTING TIPS
1. Remember that children are children and they are learning life lessons, just like you, but they’re younger and you need to teach them.
2. Turn mistakes into lessons learned. Kindly. Ask them what could they do differently next time to avoid the mistake or reduce the risk. Let them think for themselves. Wait patiently for their answer and guide them accordingly.
3. Encourage them to be kind to each other and let them know that happy people inspire happy people. Be forgiving of others if they are not doing things that are harmful to them.
